Welcome to the (belated) October 4th issue of the Sunday Briefing.

This week we are taking a break from blogging, but you can catch up on the most recent post in the Causality series were we cover the concept of d-separation, the fundamental tool in understanding how to make any pair of variables conditionally dependent or independent. As always, all the relevant code can be found in GitHub. You can also checkout the latest in the Epidemic Modeling series where we go over the basics of Network Structure, Superspreaders and Contact Tracing.

We had a great time last Friday presenting a short tutorial on “Visualization with Seaborn” as part of PyGotham.tv. We’ll share the video when it becomes available. If you’re interested in visualization you can now register to the full length Data Visualization with matplotlib and seaborn for Everyone tutorial coming up on November 12.

In our regularly scheduled content, we have a beautiful Visual Introduction to Probability and Statistics, a primer on engineering delivery metrics, and some Git Exercises. We also introduce Dialogue as Dataflow: A new approach to conversational AI by Microsoft.

On the academic front, we take a deep dive into the foundations of Information with a look at Entropy, Computing and Rationality and An Elementary Introduction to Information Geometry. We also consider ahow to Stack models for nearly optimal link prediction in complex networks and some Principles and Practice of Explainable Machine Learning.

Finaly, in the video of the week, Sean Law introduces us to Modern Time Series Analysis With STUMPY.
